Espai Nunakuna is an afterschool space in Poblenou, Barcelona, where play and culture support learning about self and surroundings. We had to define an identity for a new space that stood out, while feeling reliable for parents and approachable for children. The work covered brand identity, tone of voice, signage, and key digital and print pieces, guided by the idea that kids learn best when the environment is calm and playful. Hands-on experiences inspired the use of doodles, bold but legible typography, and bilingual messaging for the neighbourhood context.

The identity system includes logo and symbol, typography, colour palette, patterns, illustration, signage, printed and digital media. The combination of type, colour, and illustration was designed to scale across formats, making ongoing communications easier to produce while retaining a consistent tone. Feedback from the client and families has highlighted how distinctive the brand looks, this helping capture attention and communicate the nature of the space.

The project showed how a single concept can address both parents and children when it is translated into clear rules rather than separate styles. It also reinforced that space and identity feel coherent when a solid design system is used to deliver a same message to different audiences. A next step would be to extend the system with additional illustration, printed pieces, and environmental graphics to deepen its presence in the physical space.
